Been busy messing around and creating trouble. Now that I'm back on my desk and having this glimpse of free time, I can post something.

As a person in a field dealing with communications, I noticed that many people suck in communicating. When I say communicating, I don't mean by just talking, that's just talking. Communicating means having a PROPER conversation where 2 or more people can pass info, knowledge or whatever to each other. A good communication skill is important is very very important because whatever field you are in, you still HAVE to deal with people. DUH. Maybe for people like me who's in the field where you deal with people a lot, this skill just comes naturally or just learnt from mistake. "but how about people who are dealing with machines and computers most of the time?". Well it may seem useless for an animator to have a good communication skill BUT won't it be better if you can persuade your boss to give you a raise? or even just find more great clients yourself? All that needs good communication skill, and all good communication comes from just a simple conversation. So, how to have a good conversation? Here's an article:

How To Develop Great Conversation Skills

Are you searching for ways to improve your conversation skills? Exceptional conversation skills can be learned andin this article we explore ways to improve conversation skills.

While engaging in conversations with friends and co-workers, how often do you feel that the other person has truly heard what you've said? If not, you need to develop your conversation skills.

If you want to succeed in social settings, relationships, and business, one way to ensure your success is to be a great listener and to master conversation skills.

There are a few simple rules you can follow to help you become a better listener, therefore enhancing your conversation skills.

1. Stop talking.

It sounds very simplistic but if you are constantly talking, how can others express themselves? Make an effort to shift the focus of the conversation to the other person.

There is more to conversation skills than talking...

Be aware of your own body language. Match the other person's body language by leaning forward when they lean forward, etc.

Attention to small details will give the person you are speaking with a feeling that you truly hear what they are saying and that you are genuinely interested in their opinions. This is a secret of good conversation skills.

2. Pay attention to the tone of your voice.

Even if you are only giving brief answers or asking short questions, the tone of your voice plays a major part in communicating effectively and displaying good conversationskills.

If your tone suggests a condescending attitude, boredom, or anger, you will lose your audience and people will no longer want to spend time speaking with you or listening to what you have to say.

Superior conversation skills are based on mutual respect.

A respectful, preferably friendly tone will allow you to communicate efficiently and earn you the respect of others.

3. In order to move the conversation forward, ask questions to clarify or invite additional information.

Questions indicate that you are fully attentive to what is being said and that you have a real interest in the speaker's views.

Give your full attention to the speaker. When you show others that you want to hear them, they will automatically grant you the same courtesy. Do this and your conversation skills will improve.

4. Engage in light, pleasant conversation as often as you engage in meaningful, direct conversation.

If you always guide the conversation in the direction of achieving your goal, you will leave the impression of distance and a superior attitude. This is not a hallmark of great conversation skills.

People want to feel appreciated and unique. Make a point to address each person you encounter and do so in a positive, friendly manner. Conversation skills include treating others as you would like to be treated.

Good conversation skills include much more than simply speaking with others. Listening, good body language, questioning, pleasantries, and mutual respect are important elements in any conversation and are also personality traits exhibited by successful people.

How To Start A Good ConversationIn 6 Easy Ways...

Good conversation is an important skill in almost everysituation. The art of conversation is a skill shared by most successful people. Good conversation promotes an image of self-confidence, intelligence, and wittiness. Unless you master the art of conversation you will never realize your true potentialfor success.

Why else should you learn the art of conversation? People whoalways seem to rise to the top of their professions and are well respected by others who share the ability to converse with anybody in every situation.

People who seem to speak effortlessly and efficiently with others are generally well liked and highly successful. This is because they spent time learning the art of conversation.

If you need to improve your conversational skills, here are a few tips that can help you enhance your conversational skills and boost your image.

1. Always say what you think, not what you think others want you to say. Especially in a professional setting, learning to express your views and ideas in a positive, non-threatening manner will invite reactions and responses.

Effective leaders always say what they are thinking and express their ideas freely. The art of conversation is based on being yourself.

2. Listen carefully to what others are saying. People often interpret things said by others in a way that clouds their ability to hear what people are intending to say.

By giving your full attention to the speaker, you can hear what they intend for you to hear instead of what you want to hear. Remember, the art of conversation includes the ability to listen to others as well as the ability to speak effectively.

3. Always assume that a speaker is saying exactly what they mean to say. Even if it seems unclear, try to find meaning and coherence to the words they are saying and give them the respect of hearing what they want you to hear.

In any conversation, the ability to give respect is just as important as receiving it. The art of conversation is a give and take between parties, not one speaker and one listener.

4. The art of conversation can be broken down into three parts.

The first part is small talk. Small talk is dictated by social rules and includes polite greetings, inquiries about the well-being of others, etc.

Stage two is the end of the small talk and moving on to the purpose of the conversation such as business, the sharing of opinions and personal views.

Without the ability to express yourself efficiently, the conversation can easily slip back into small talk, lessening the chances of accomplishing the initial goal of the conversation.

The third part of a conversation is where the various ideas and views expressed can be merged into a satisfying end for all parties involved in the conversation.

The art of conversation is a learned skill that is common among successful, energetic people. If you are unable to effectively express yourself in any situation, you will likely find that you do not attract the attention and command the respect that is bestowed upon some others.

So, does this help you? do you now think a good conversation by you is possible? is a good conversation important to you in the first place?

Think about it.....

How to Stay Young

Received a very interesting e-mail which goes like this:

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Very wonderful article which cheered me up. He do agree that internet shouldn't be censored so that there will be more transparency.

3. Now that I have retired I feel glad that we made the decision not to censor. I have benefited much from the blogs as have very many bloggers. There may be a few who have abused this blogging privilege but by and large it has served the public well. The mainstream media in Malaysia need no censoring as they censor themselves. So the blogs can report what really happens. It can be the alternative source of news. And there is a need for this other source for the mainstream media will always be guarding their behind.

However, because of this, pornographic materials are easily accessed. Sex related crimes nowadays are always related to pornographic materials, especially among teens.

8. But I am concerned about the dissemination of pornographic material. I am concerned because there can be no doubt that sex related crimes are more common today due to the easily excitable young having access to filthy pornographic material. Sexual immorality among youths is more common today than ever before.

Although these pornographic materials does has some influence to these crimes, but in my humble opinion it's all depends on the individual him/herself. People tend to blame the media like movies, tv shows, games, internet and so on when people, especially youths, committed crime. Examples are games like Grand Theft Auto, "immoral' songs that relates to sex and drugs, pornographic materials and so on. I personally do not agree with the blames of the media.

Why? I know many people who consume these medias but non of them are fully influenced by them. Even I myself played Grand Theft Auto, did I go imitate the gameplay in real life? As I've said, everything lays to the BASIC MORAL EDUCATION taught to them SINCE YOUNG. Not only that, schools should strengthen their moral values in moral classes and not just teaching them terms and get As in exams, and expecting them to really learn the values. Sex education is also important, however sadly some parents and men in power see this as immoral and against religions.

No one can control the flow of information of the internet. Instead of censoring all 'not-accepted' opinions, suing these people for defamation or even locking them up; why not bring these opinions to a discussion? Won't it be better to resolve a statement instead of using power to avoid and close statements that MIGHT be true and rational? Don't we want MalaysiaNS to be more intellectual and able to be more competitive? Or does that mean, Malaysian commoners and youths has no power to rationalise? Is confining a kid from all dangers, wrongs and sins; and not letting them think and understand the WHY factor able to keep them from doing wrong?

Think about it....

The Egg By: Andy Weir

You were on your way home when you died.

It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.

And that’s when you met me.

“What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?”

“You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.

“There was a… a truck and it was skidding…”

“Yup,” I said.

“I… I died?”

“Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said.

You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. “What is this place?” You asked. “Is this the afterlife?”

“More or less,” I said.

“Are you god?” You asked.

“Yup,” I replied. “I’m God.”

“My kids… my wife,” you said.

“What about them?”

“Will they be all right?”

“That’s what I like to see,” I said. “You just died and your main concern is for your family. That’s good stuff right there.”

You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didn’t look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.

“Don’t worry,” I said. “They’ll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didn’t have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If it’s any consolation, she’ll feel very guilty for feeling relieved.”

“Oh,” you said. “So what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?”

“Neither,” I said. “You’ll be reincarnated.”

“Ah,” you said. “So the Hindus were right,”

“All religions are right in their own way,” I said. “Walk with me.”

You followed along as we strode through the void. “Where are we going?”

“Nowhere in particular,” I said. “It’s just nice to walk while we talk.”

“So what’s the point, then?” You asked. “When I get reborn, I’ll just be a blank slate, right? A baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won’t matter.”

“Not so!” I said. “You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don’t remember them right now.”

I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. “Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly imagine. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. It’s like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it’s hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you’ve gained all the experiences it had.

“You’ve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven’t stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, you’d start remembering everything. But there’s no point to doing that between each life.”

“How many times have I been reincarnated, then?”

“Oh lots. Lots and lots. An in to lots of different lives.” I said. “This time around, you’ll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD.”

“Wait, what?” You stammered. “You’re sending me back in time?”

“Well, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I come from.”

“Where you come from?” You said.

“Oh sure,” I explained “I come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know you’ll want to know what it’s like there, but honestly you wouldn’t understand.”

“Oh,” you said, a little let down. “But wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point.”

“Sure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you don’t even know it’s happening.”

“So what’s the point of it all?”

“Seriously?” I asked. “Seriously? You’re asking me for the meaning of life? Isn’t that a little stereotypical?”

“Well it’s a reasonable question,” you persisted.

I looked you in the eye. “The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature.”

“You mean mankind? You want us to mature?”

“No, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect.”

“Just me? What about everyone else?”

“There is no one else,” I said. “In this universe, there’s just you and me.”

You stared blankly at me. “But all the people on earth…”

“All you. Different incarnations of you.”

“Wait. I’m everyone!?”

“Now you’re getting it,” I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.

“I’m every human being who ever lived?”

“Or who will ever live, yes.”

“I’m Abraham Lincoln?”

“And you’re John Wilkes Booth, too,” I added.

“I’m Hitler?” You said, appalled.

“And you’re the millions he killed.”

“I’m Jesus?”

“And you’re everyone who followed him.”

You fell silent.

“Every time you victimized someone,” I said, “you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.”

You thought for a long time.

“Why?” You asked me. “Why do all this?”

“Because someday, you will become like me. Because that’s what you are. You’re one of my kind. You’re my child.”

“Whoa,” you said, incredulous. “You mean I’m a god?”

“No. Not yet. You’re a fetus. You’re still growing. Once you’ve lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born.”

“So the whole universe,” you said, “it’s just…”

“An egg.” I answered. “Now it’s time for you to move on to your next life.”

And I sent you on your way.

Many times people condemn each others of their religion, their God, their idealism of God, their way of practising their religion, their way of life. Little did they know, all religions teaches 1 very common things: Be kind to others. So why can't we all just get along and respect each other? You have your way, I have my mentor, they have their prayers; does that mean we have to condemn others to make ourselves more superior than others? Right now, my body can't seem to take it anymore. Was watching the World Cup Finals and got home at around 6 plus and slept after shower. I even set 3 different alarm time just in case I missed one. Who knows when I woke up, it's 4 PM! I actually slept through all 3 alarms with a very very very annoying alarm tone!!

Dam, the age really affects the body and the activities we can do huh. Above all, I think it's my diet and the number of exercise I do. I think I should start eating and doing more healthy stuffs. If you think your body can do whatever you can do when you're young till old age....Think again. Ever wonder if your body can sustain it's capability till 50 with your lifestyle?

Think about it....

ESBI quadrant

Was surfing around the net looking for stuffs for my FYP and I stumbled upon this.

This is one theory (or whatever you call it) by Robert Kiyosaki whick change my whole mindset of making money and I can't believe I actually forgotten its existence for a while. Then the business philosophy debate started and I found out one thing, all of them want to do business, but they forget why they want to do business. When I asked them a very simple question, "why you want to do business?" The most common answer I get: make money.

Well, no doubt business is a good way to make money but there are many other ways as well, so why do business? Furthermore, there are many other things to take into consideration when doing business as compared to working. So, in the end is still, why do business? or more like what is it that YOUR heart wants?

Think about it.....

The meaning of wealth

Was going through some articles and stumble upon this article about Robert Kuok aka Sugar King's speech. The very last line caught my attention:

Wealth should be used for two main purposes. One: for the generation of greater wealth; in other words, you continue to invest, creating prosperity and jobs in the country. Two: part of your wealth should be applied to the betterment of mankind, either by acts of pure philanthropy or by investment in research and development along the frontiers of science, space, health care and so forth.

I've always respect people like him not only because they are very very rich, it's because of their mindset and the way they think. Many of us always focus on making money and making more money until we forget what is it that we actually want. No doubt money can make us happy to a certain extend, however we ourselves can destroy anything dear to us because of money.
